An ongoing study in how objects carry memory, how the smallest forms can hold the most meaning.
Bearings was founded by Neha Mathew as a meditation on legacy, design, and form. The brand began as a love letter to her grandfather, who spent his life surrounded by the quiet mechanics of ball and roller bearings, objects defined by function, balance, and precision.
Before he passed away, he gave her a single miniature bearing from his shop. Unassuming in scale, it became a lasting symbol of her childhood. What began as a personal keepsake gradually evolved into a broader exploration of industrial forms translated into fine jewelry.
Through Bearings, Neha reinterprets the utilitarian design of bearings: their repetition, movement, and everyday purpose into heirloom-quality fine jewelry designed to be worn daily. Clean lines, structural rhythm, and subtle weight shape the brand’s visual language, resulting in pieces that feel both architectural and intimate.
The collections include a core and signature set of foundational styles alongside bespoke and custom appointments. Each piece is handmade in New York, crafted with an emphasis on longevity, craftsmanship, and thoughtful design.
At its core, Bearings is an ongoing study in how objects carry memory, how the smallest forms can hold the most meaning.
